History

The Miller-Eccles Study Group was started in 1980 when Steve Eccles and Ron Miller held a meeting in the Miller's home.  Leonard J. Arrington, then the Church Historian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, was invited to speak to a group of friends.  He spoke for 15-20 minutes giving an overview of the Church's Historical Department, and then opened the meeting to questions.  He spoke for nearly three hours that night.  Those in attendance all contributed towards the expenses incurred in bringing Arrington down to Los Angeles.

That first meeting was a success and so other speakers were invited down later that same year.  One thing lead to another, and the group was formally organized on January 1, 1982.  The by-laws were formally presented to and accepted by the original Board of Directors on March 13, 1982.
